Hello, Frank! From my experiences, You will be happier than new. The reason is that i have had several instances that it worked better. I bought a Roto-Zip almost 11 years ago, when they were advertised on TV. I went threw 3, or 4 outfits, and called the maker,, who at that time was independent family owned. They told me to try a rebuilt unit, which is usually a opened package, or a small problem and owner returned. I did so, and that one is still working today.I was told that the rebuilds get new bearings, and brushes almost on every one. if anything is a little more troublesome, it is also always replaced. Should be better than brand new, and usually has a better warren tee!

I was looking at the DeWalt 735, but want to check out the Ridgid. I have the TS, DP, Router and sander. Do you know what the cutter head is made from steel or aluminum?

I will be needing a new planer before too long and the Ridgid is one of the planers I am considering, so I will be looking forward to your evaluation. Every board that goes through my shop goes by way of my planer. All my lumber is rough cut 5/4 so my planer is well used. The planer I would love to have is the DeWalt 735.
