Ryobi plate joiner
I have a Ryobi plate joiner (model JM80)my wife bought me as a birthday present a few years ago. I haven't had a chance to use it yet as shortly after I got it I had to have major back surgery. I was looking at it the other day and I noticed that when you press the base against a board and begin cutting the slot, there is some play between the base and the cutter. Is this normal to have some play there or should there be no play at all? How will this affect the joint? I'd guess there is about 1/32" (worst case guess) movement of the blade up and down.
