Default need to make sled for my table saw

i am making a sled for my table saw and am making dovetail runners out of hardwood and need to know the way you make the part of the dovetail that fits into the dvetail slot

Rip a piece to the width of the widest part of the dove tail slot and about 1" taller.
Set the dovetail bit in the router (in the router table) to the hight you need. Adjust the fence to expose exactly 1/2 of the bit. run both sides of the piece you ripped. Then, rip off the extra 1".

You'll need to sand the insert a bit to get smooth sliding. Or, make your slot ever so slightly wider. A piece of masking tape on the router table fence for the first cut, then removed for the second cut would do the trick.
