Default 2-1/4" hole saw

If you only buy one hole saw for your woodworking hobby it should be a 2-1/4" diameter. This hole saw it the exact size for dust collection hoses and adapters and can be used in a hand drill for close quarters drilling. Porter Cable offers one with an arbor for $10 at Lowe's; it is adequate for most home users. This makes dust collection projects easy.
