Default Tool Retailers: Which Ones Are Trustworthy?

Tool Retailers are everywhere on the internet. It can be a crap shoot trying to figure out who to trust. Many do not actually stock tools and only broker tools from another retailer. We talked with WoodHaven this week who said they bought a tool online (got the lowest price) but waited 4 weeks for delivery.

We're also concerned about the lack of transparency from online retailers who hide the facts about their tools. Maybe you too are tired of purchasing a tool only to find that it is was hyped up far beyond its true quality on the retailer's web site. So...against all of this, we are trying to filter out the good from the bad retailers who are everywhere online.

We hope this makes sense to many of you here.

I've been around for a long time and only had one problem. I never got my order but I did get my money back. There are many retailers out there and I do business with several of them. Rockler, Tools Today, McFeeely's, Whiteside, MCLS, and more. If you're looking for something and have questions post it on the forum. You will get plenty of input.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Live it to it's fullest.

Thanks, argoknot...I get your point.

In our search for the truth behind the hype with tools and retailers, we can always run to our favorite forum and ask questions. Thank God for forums, huh?

There are many quality vendors; Rockler and Woodcraft are both decent to deal with.(I am lucky to have retail stores from both close to me) MLCS and Grizzly have excellent track records for customer service. I have never had a problem with buying from Amazon and their prices are usually the best you can find.

Thanks, Mike.

I order a table saw fence for tools-plus.com, it was a very smooth transaction.

I've been happy with the service from KMS Tools, up here in Canada KMS Tools & Equipment from Vancouver BC, Selling quality tools at affordable prices all over Canada. Largest powertool, handtool and woodworking machinery retailer in Canada.
Same for Summit Tools (B.C....Lower Mainland), but they don't do mail order...they do however 'negotiate' on prices!

Lee Valley is at the top of my list of trusted e-tailers, followed closely by Woodcraft, Rockler, McFeely's, and Amazon.

I don't do much shopping online, only done it twice actually. Purchased the box joint jigs from Oak-Park, and purchased some items from Princess Auto (Canada's answer to Harbour Freight) They were flawless transactions.
