Default miter saw part

Ok I have another question I have a miter saw that was bought for me and it fell out of the van and broke a part, the part is a piece of plastic with a spring in it. If the spring is out the blade wont turn. The saw is orange and was bought at Fred's a department store here in the south. My question is how would I go about getting this part to fix the saw?

We'll need a model number and a serial number for starters. Then track one down on the internet.

That's the same exact saw I have, only I got mine at a yard sale for $5. No operating instructions came with it. Anyone know where I can find those?

And Dicey, I'll help you look for that part, too.

Hello Bob welcome to the router forum community.
You may want to look in the tool reference file without a picture and model number I don't think will be able to help you

Looking forward to your participation.
Filling out your profile to include (first name, tools and short bio is strictly (optional )but does help members to better relate to each other.

Thanks for all the welcoming messages from everyone. I don't understand what happened. I registered to post my initial entry, but when I tried to make another entry tonight I received a message saying I was not registered. So I registered again. The first time was as bogie7129, now as Bob Giese.

But... to DICEY... as I said, I went looking for the part you need, or a schematic or a parts list. I found one website that lists all the compound miter saw manufacturers in the world. There were over six hundred listed and each had a logo next to it. So I scanned the list for the logo that is shown on our mutually-owned unknown manufacturer's site and I did not find it. Admittedly, I only went up to about 450 sites. When I entered that registered trade mark that shows on our saws, the first thing that came up for "SA" was South Africa. I knew then it was going to be a long haul.

As luck would have it, I attempted to use mine again yesterday, and I broke it. Part of the casting is now broken and probably beyond repair. If you are interested in seeing the part that broke and where it broke off from I've send you a couple of pics. But, it looks like my days of using this miter saw are over. So, I'm willing to send it to you if you pay the shipping. You will then have all the parts you need except the one I broke.

Oh, I can hear the warnings now. "DON'T DO IT, DICEY, HE'S ONLY POSTED ONCE AND YOU DON'T KNOW HIM FROM ADAM. HE'S JUST OUT TO GET YOUR BUCKS! DON'T TRUST HIM." Yeh, well, okay, let them holler. If you want the miter saw exactly like yours, I'll send it to you for no charge. But I can't afford the shipping. I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income and have to count my pennies carefully.

Just contact me, we'll work something out that helps you and keeps me from throwing mine into the landfill.

P.S. - Or send me your email and I'll send you a couple of pics from my iPhone.

P.P.S. - If someone will tell me how to post pics here I'll do that. I'm new at this and have never done it before. That does not mean I'm not trainable.
