Default A shop built grinder/sander/band saw

A while ago, I came across a few electric motors at an estate sale for $5 apiece. Naturally I grabbed them. There were 2 old Craftsman 1 HP motors, and a 1/4 HP motor.

At the time, I had no idea what I would do with the, but they are great to have around, just in case.

Fast forward a year and a half, and I am starting to get into working with wood, mostly as part of my effort to get my garage and work shop area organized. For some of the projects, I could really use a bench grinder and sanding disk. A band saw would also be a really useful tool to have around.

Then I had a thought ...

So, here is the motor:

I came across this at Ace ... and they were having a 20% off everything in the store sale:

It works like a charm!

Now all I have to do is secure it down and attach a grinder disk. Voila ... a bench grinder!

On the other side, I can attach a disk with some tape backed sand paper, and I will have a sanding disk.

More to come ...

Inventive. Go for it! YOu may want to consider some kind of shielding against the possibility of stone breakage, etc.

Cheers,
Roger

I'm not slow, I'm pacing myself!

Isaiah 44:13 Another shapes wood, he extends a measuring line, he outlines it with red chalk. He works it with planes and outlines it with a compass...

Usual kit: Table saw, band saw, dual base router and table, lathe, various saws, planer, sanders, and a multitude of hand tools.
