Default making a 7/8 hole.

I need to drill a 7/8 hole approx 2 inches deep in oak.
I'm going to glue a dowel in it to repair a piano leg.
What's the best type of bit to do it and what should I use as far as drilling??
I do have a drill press and a fostener bit, although it's just steel and not carbide.
Thanks huys,

Use the forstner. Go slow. Back it out often to clear the chips.
