Default Dust Right Dust Collection System

I recently added the Dust Right System to my shop. Not knowing much about such things I just went to Rockler's web page and decided to buy what they sold in that I have bought from them a great deal over the past two to three years since I first became interested in woodworking.

Shortly after getting the system I joined this forum and am learning that there is a lot of discussion on the subject of dust collection but not much is being said about the pros and/or cons of the Dust Righty System. By now I am beginning to realize that at best it seems to be a medum performance system compared to other systems that are on the market. My shop time is limited to just a few hours a day at best.

Just wondering what some of you folks might have to say about the system.

From what I know the weakness of the Dust Right system is their filter bag. Their standard bag only filters to 30 microns and their optional bag only filters to five microns. Neither is anywhere close to the recommended sub micron HEPA standard.

I've heard from Rockler employees that do not recommend their system because of the five micron filter bag. I am surprised that Rockler still does not sell a better filter. I am sure many people rely on Rockler to provide an adequate system rather and do not even know that they may be compromising their health.

I do own and use their Vortex separator to keep the filter on my Shop Vac from clogging prematurely. I had been procrastinating on building a Thien separator and figured for $70 and free shipping the Vortex would pay for itself after saving me a few filter cleanouts!
