Default 12mm to 1/4" adapter

Hi,

While tidying up I came across a plunge router which looks decent and seems to run fine, however has no model or manufacturer information on it. It looks quite like a Trend T5. Sadly the collet, as far as I can tell is 12mm, since it is just too small for 1/2" (12.7mm) bits. I cannot find my micrometer, so I don't know what size the spindle is. All I know is the collets from my Hitachi M12V2 are slightly too big.

I was thinking if I could find an adapter that sits inside the existing collet to convert it to 1/4" I could use it for smaller jobs, since my Hitachi M12V2 is really too big for smaller jobs.

I have done some Googling and cannot find anyone who sells a 12mm to 1/4" adapter. Does anyone know if such a thing exists, and if so where I could purchase it? Preferably from within the UK.

Thanks, Benjamin

Any chance of a photograph, Benjamin? The T5 has a maximum collet size of 12mm so it won't be one of those but if you can post a pic maybe someone could identify the router

Regards

Phil

Thanks for helping. It has one label, which has German writing, and I believe it is a European model (hence the 12mm collet instead of 1/2"). Really all I want is some way of running 1/4" bits in it. Sadly it says I can't post urls. Go to this (remove the spaces) https:// picasaweb.google. com/ 07bloomfieldb/Routers?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Congratulations! Good find! I think that's actually a Holz-Her (almost identical to the Festool OF2000 - Holz-Her has orange switches, Festool has green ones and differently-shaped handles)! These routers were made for Holz-Her and Festool by Mafell (who also made it in red and black and called it the LO65e) and use the exact same collets as the deWalt DW625/Trend T10/Tend T11/Elu MOF177e so obtaining a 1/4in or 1/2in collet is easy. Any deWalt dealer (ask for DW625 collet ref: DW6902) or Trend stockist (T10/T11 collet ref: CLT/T10/635) should be able to supply a collet, probably ex-stock. Alternatively there's always the 'Bay, like here or you could go to a Festool or Mafell dealer if you are particularly flush

Interesting find. I thought that Holz-Her had only ever sold a modified versions of the Felisatti R346 router (also sold as the Trend T9 in the UK) and of the Metabo Signal Of.1229 in the UK. Presumably made right at the end of the firm's existence (the power tool division was sold to Festool in 2000)

For a review of the Festool OF2000 see here

Regards

Phil

Thanks for your help. Once I track that down I'll officially join the rank of the multiple router owner.
