Default Need Opinions On The MJ Splitter...

About a year ago I purchased the Grip Tite Magnetic Feather Board System. Recently, as some of you wll recall, I asked for input and/or opinions on the product and what I got back from members on this formu was not very positive. Now I am waiting for the BBT (Big Brown Truck) to bring me a copy of the MJ splitter system. I am wondering if members of the forum that are familiar with the splitter can tell me what they think about it. I am hoping that their opinions will be similair to those that sell the product. I don't want to make the same mistake about the splitter as I did with the feather board, by mistake I mean that the opinions about the Grip Tite product were not near as flattering as those made by the manufacturer of the procduct. If I get negative reviews on the splitter I will return it to Rockler before attempting to install it.

Jerry, I have not used them, but the idea looks ok to me. The only suggestion I would have is read this
from woodgears. especially the part about splining the ends to prevent splitting!

Making a zero clearance table saw insert

I have tried that, it does solve the wood insert splitting issue!

I have found that hand tools are the best choice when I want to make mistakes at a slower rate of speed.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

I have used them, and they are a very good product. In fact, I would recommend spending the few extra bucks and get the steal version. If your saw still has its riving knife or splitter, they are not for you. For those of us that no longer have these devices (Bought my saw used, and the splitter was LONG gone) this is the next best thing, and by far way better then nothing.

Thanks Mike, I do have the splitter snd it is an intrigal part of the blade guard but, due to the installation of the rails that are part of the Incra LS fence positioning system the guard and splitter are installed. From what you say, the MJ splitter looks like it will be the answer to the issue. By the way, I did get the steel version of the product.

Dear Jerry,

40 years of sales and marketing for industrial mfgs have taught me that a customers expectations are never as great as those of the Company that makes it - take what the mfg. says, divide by 1/2 and if it will still work for you then go for it.

good luck Baker
