Default An unexpected use for red oak planer shavings

Shiitake Mushrooms

A guy at work grows mushrooms and he's taking my red oak shavings as a growth medium for the shrooms. He says I'll get some in return and a portion of the seeded medium to keep getting more down the road.

Patrick, I personally don't eat fungus, but I think that's really neat. What a great way to use an otherwise disposable piece of oak.
