Default Metabo DS 175 7-Inch Bench Grinder

I'm in the market for a new bench grinder and stumbled across the Metabo DS 175 7-Inch Bench Grinder. From what little I can find out it seems to be very good grinder. It has been compared to the Baldor and the video on Youtube is impressive. I have searched all the big names and depending on what you read they are good or terrible. I have pretty much ruled out Jet and De Walt and won't deal with Grizzley. Does anyone have any experience with this brand?

Hi Art

Metabo are a well-regarded (over here in the UK) German brand who manufacture mainly industrial quality power tools. Their SDS drills, for example, have a reputation for being extremely durable as have their angle grinders. What they don't seem to do is to buy-in from the Far East. In my own kit I currently have a Metabo jigsaw and a random orbit sander, both very good an well finished. Can't say from personal experience about the bench grinders, having never had one, but I'm left with the impression that they are well up to the standard of the Creusen brand (another "good" make), not to mention a bit pricey

"Unfortunately there is lots of bad information online; some of it is really scary. It's probably not intentional, but I've seen some content that sets up the illusion that you can do whatever you want and get away with it" - Norm Abram in an interview with Jefferson Kolle
