Default Photos For Harry Or Anybody Else That Wants To Have A Look

Harry,
You have been asking for photos as have a few other folks. I'm talking of course about the pictures of how the cedar chest construction is coming along. I have had a bit of trouble getting the mitered corners of the frame that fits around the lid to fit the way I would like for it it fit, but I think I'm O.K. with it now.

The photos shown here are of the frame in the strap clamp, and ready for glue, there will be no dowels or biscuits as they can't be put in place at this point of the build.

Anyway Harry, here are the first photos, there is one of the top view of the lid, no sanding has been done, What you see is just the way it carm out of the clamps, the surface I mean, the fitting of the lid to the frame was another matter as the edge which dictates the width was a challenge taking off thousandths at a time to sneak the lid into the frame.

Anyway, Harry, that's all that I have for you right now.

Jerry

You've certainly made progress Jerry, I do believe that the chest will turn out as you envisioned it. Even your photography has improved beyond recognition. May I suggest that to strengthen the corners of the frame you pop a spline into each corner. These shots show how I fit splines. To upscale just cut a larger 45° board. I eagerly await the next series of shots.

Nice work, Jerry. Same to you, Harry, now if you could show us how to add splines in the corners of a box with compound angles.

Show me a picture and I'll see if I'm capable.

Harry those splines really add to the character of the box . I'm assuming you chisel out the excess on the inside ?

I never have, but if I ever cut too deep then that is what I'll have to do Rick!
