Hi Wilbur. I have not used a drum sander yet, although they have a 22"+ model at the Men's shed.

Looking at your profile, I would go for a 6" or 8" jointer before a sander. Just my 2c worth.

Hi Wilbur, the only advantage that I can see is that you can obtain 5", 6' , 7" or 8" wide boards from your lumber yard and straighten those.

Unfortunately I cannot comment specifically on the 10" Grizzly drum sander. However, I use a drum sander daily in my small shop. I recently up-sized from a 16/32 to a 19/38. When I decided to make the change I did look at Grizzly since I have several Grizzly tools and am generally satisfied with them. They certainly have the lowest prices on most things! So, first I would say that 10" seems pretty small to me. Second, I think I wouldn't like Grizzly's velcro/duct tape sandpaper fastening system. However, whatever you decide, I can tell you for sure that a drum sander is a wonderful tool.

Plenty more plans out there, just google drum sander plans.
