Default DC hoses...

After struggling for a while trying to get the wire reinforced vinyl hose ends on to ABS fittings and idea was struck...

Went and found several metal shoe horns held in place w/ a hose clamp....and used them to facilitate getting the hoses on to the fittings along with a wee bit watered down dish soap...
No muss no fuss.. The hose fittings slipped together so sweetly, as in right now...

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
If only new layers hadn't been added....

Stick....

Great tip!! At times after much struggle--I have (and know i shouldn't) been known to lick the fitting which helps a lot. But it's really hard to explain to my wife in any kind of reasonable manner--no need to ask how i know this.

Stick,
Don't you know that the dimensions of these fittings are purposely designed to drive the user, in this case you Stick, crazy and cause you to use colorful adjectives about the way the fit just almost will fit but not quite fit until you have fussed with it for awhile.

You cheated by finding such a good way to get around the careful design of the manufacturer. Good for you.

either the hose is undersized or the fitting is over sized and they are intended to fit together very tightly...
the better the hose the tighter the fit the tougher it is to get them fitted together...
this goes for the screw on fittings as well...

used the offset curved shape of 4 shoe horns (that's why the hose clamp to hold them in place) to form a funnel/ramp for the hose to slide up on the fitting...
once the hose was fully on the fitting I removed the horns and finished sliding the hose all the way on...
this is where the lube did it's thing...
FWIW, I use commercial smooth interior wall hose w/ metal windings......

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
If only new layers hadn't been added....

I'm pretty sure that the hose is under sized Stick.

I usually sand the end of the pipe then use a heat gun to warm the hose, helps some, but it is still hard to get it on PVC
