Default Craftsman Bench Vise

HI, I Haven't posted in a while but I was wondering if someone may be able to help me out. I purchase a CRAFTSMAN WOODWORKING VISE MODEL 506-51890, UNDER BENCH MOUNT WITH A 10" JAW. Would someone be able to tell me the approximate age of this by the model number? I have tried to find out but did not have any luck. Thanks, Chris

Hear-tell they were made in the '80s for Sears by Columbian Vise.

I picked one of these up at a pawnshop, new in the box, a couple of years ago. They wanted $15 and had no idea what it was!

Best wood vise I've ever had.

First a little back ground. I went into the Army in 1960, retired in 1981, hadn't seen my Step Dad for over 22 years. At our re-meeting, he felt he needed to give me something. He had under plastic in his back yard, (Illinois weather) an old Craftsman Table saw. It was a block of rusted cast iron. We threw it into my truck and I brought it back to Texas. I cleaned it up and used it in my house building business for many years. The problem with it was that it kept burning out the bearings. I went to Sears and we had to search their files kept on Microfiche. My saw had only 2 digits in the parts numbers. My point is, and I have finally gotten to it, Sears may still have those old microfiche. Good luck.

When the enemy is in range, so are you.

Even if Sears didn't have them, Captial Vise is still going strong producing vises. But I would have just went to a bearing supply with one of the bearings and they could match up the bearings for less than Sears would charge you.
