Default I did a Dumb Thing

Sometimes a bright idea doesn't work and I feel like a dumb a**.

I had the bright idea to turn my Bosch router base into a Power Lift on my new router table.
I had this little Skil low speed driver I use for installing drawer guides in cabinets , so you guessed it why not chuck up a hex bit and use it to raise and lower my router?

So that I did , and when i was playing with it ,up &down, up & down, ..........Clunk....wiiiiiiiizzzzz. router not moving.

I pulled the router out of the table and spent an hour trying to figure out what went wrong. What I eventually found was that the router lift on the shaft has a spring washer that fits in a groove on the shaft. this little item was missing and the groove was all goud-up. Now what to do!

I looked around the junk cans and jars and found a concrete insert with a threaded stud in it. I removed the stud and drill out the threads the size of the shaft on the router.

Then I drilled and tapped a set screw on each side and installed it on the shaft and clamped it tight with the set screws.

Works great, not with the driver tho, with the hand key.

No need to feel like a dumb ape. The end result is what matters.
