Default A fun project challenge

A friend messaged me that she needs a couple of small baby related items to hold flowers as small centerpieces at the shower. This request is a first for me and I thought it would be fun to put the question out on the forums to see what ideas it generates. This could also be a fun project for you to build too.

My two items will be built from scraps and the friend will decorate them. I will post photos when they are done. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Great idea...just be careful the baby doesn't outgrow them before they're done...LOL...you know how fast kids grow up now-a-days...

It would be fun to make a rattle...never get it past the safety police though...

My idea would be pieces for a mobile...

Nick, I think you missed that this is to be a centerpiece to hold flowers on a table.

Mike

How about a square box, no lid, with inserts on each side to hold photos.

Some folks call me Vince - other folks call me...........

Here is the crib. The frame is 3/4 x 3/4" pine; the end panels and bottom are 1/8" Masonite and the bars are 1/4" dowels. I ran out of cheap dowel and had to use walnut on one side. I used my table saw to cut grooves in the end rails to hold the panels. There is a support bar under the bottom and all fastening is done with 1-1/4" pin nails. I used my Kreg shelf pin jig to drill the holes for the dowels. A little hot melt glue secures the bottom.

I think when my friend paints this white and adds the silk flowers it should be pretty neat. This was a fun little project built entirely from off cuts.
