Default Should Polls be closed after 1 year?

Every once in a while someone will wander into the voting booth and cast their vote on polls that are too old to have any current meaning, which in turn fills up the "new posts" on the forum machinery. It is good that they participate, but we should do this on polls that are useful and up to date.

Should the admistration of the forum close a poll after 1 year to prevent this from happening if the creator does not elect the automatic option in the poll set up?

Hi Bob,

I had to choose "yes". I agree it's nice to see people getting involved on the forums but, if it's something that's been awhile, ie., 1yr or more. Then it should be closed.

It's difficult at best sometimes to keep track of posts as it is.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Ken

I may be the culprit that started this.

On some other forums the polls do not bump unless you leave a post. Just voting does not bump them.

If I caused these to bump and aggravated some people I apologize, I had no idea at all. Many of the polls were closed, most were not. I did not even look at the dates.

Some polls are good for years because they may track a trend we went to watch. Others should be closed after a year and still others may only be good for 6 months or less. I think it should be done on a poll to poll basis. I did vote yes though since it is a yes or no question with no other options.

For some newer guys polls are a good way to get them started, especially guys that have never been on any forum. It creates an atmosphere to participate and the first act of participating is always the hardest for someone new to the net.

There are some posts getting political on another forum I frequent and I just skip over them.

Nick

Close enough to avoid a re-count

Looks like I'll go ahead and close the ones that need closing. Thanks for your votes.
