This will look like something else that was a "What is it?" but it is different..... What is under that yellow post-it? Why does the barrel look so funny? Hey you tell us about this tool and you get 100 points, but you have to be the first one to do it correctly and with some detail....

Pushing in on the handle causes the bit to rotate. That is what those funny grooves on the barrel are for.
I have two of these, one a 3/16" and this a 1/4". As far as I can tell the bits do not come out...... No storage in the handle..... I guess they were the poor mans tool of the time. The whole tool is 9 3/4" tall tip to end. This one has a name on it of Waltham I think the other is a Dunlap?????

You were very close, close enough to win any way!

This is the type of screwdriver that will either drive screws in or when the little switch is flipped it will reverse and remove screws. If the switch is in the middle position it acts locked and is a "normal" screwdriver. that's what the "double" threads on the shaft indicate. Mom used one in a factory, old, but I have it. Its seen better days.
