Default Spouse's New Toy

The spouse took a beginners scroll saw class at Lee Valley this past weekend and I think things went really well. They did several projects and the spouse got a gold star (LOL..jk).
So today when I went looking for some wood we found a DeWalt DW788 Scroll saw on sale at Home Hardware. We actually got a really good deal on it. The spouse now has a new toy in the shop too! It's getting crowded out there!

Same one I have Deb..... spouse is going to love it! The Dewalt is one of the better machines in it's class according to those that know.

Now the spouse can make a gumball machine for the grandkids like I did

Bob it was the machine they used in the class. I could not believe how quiet it was! I'm going to recommend the gumball machine project. I like that one myself. Thanks!

Boy is it ever! Our WW club had reps from DeWalt/Delta/PC giving demonstrations on that scroll saw, Delta's new MIDI lathe and the new Unisaw. I didn't attend the latter but both of the former were verrry nice. The DeWalt also had paralle arms, especially nice for cutting coins, metal, glass and other tough materials that would want to break with a C-arm, like mine.

Check out that new high-tech cordless router.. wireless and no recharging required!!

Be careful Deb, he may want to start using everything and just take over.

Hi Deb

Nice scroll saw..may I give you a tip,,pickup some 1/8" plastic and cut it to fit the top and stick it down with some double sided carpet tape it will make the top slick and save the top..it will not rust the top because you will have a small air gap..

One more tip make a block for the back of the saw, a 4" x 6" block will do the trick,,it will raise the saw up so you oan't need to break your back and you (he) can pull a stool over and park it..

one more take a 2" x 4" X 3" long, cut a notch in the block to hold up the scroll arm to make it easy to switch blades out..it will support the arm for you easy .
Then tie a string to it and it hang it to the saw table so you always have it near by..
