Default Scroll saw info

HI, I'm new to the forum. I have a Bench Pro scroll saw, model SSW18. I can't find any info on the computer or from local tool companies. Does any one have any info about this saw and who I could get parts from. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Bill, I suggest you try at Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

There are a lot of great people there too! That is my other main forum haunt.

Can someone answer this question.
What do you use to trace on package tape to make a pattern. I've used a pencil and I can not see the pencil marl to cut the pattern. So which is best to use. And where could I get it...Dennis

I make a paper pattern and use spray glue to attach it to the wood. Then I cover it with a layer of packing tape to help prevent the paper from getting fuzzed up when cutting and keep the line clean.

When finished cutting, just peel off the tape and give the piece a quick swipe with some mineral spirits on a rag to remove any paper still glued to the surface.

If you prefer to draw your pattern on the tape itself, try using an extra fine point Sharpie pen.

Hi Oliver
Thanks for the advice, but the object was to use the piece I cut off as a guide to trace the next piece to cut off. I used a pen marker and let it dry but moving around on an angle is not easy. Especially the first time. I've never done this before making a bowl. Maybe I shall try paint with a pen like brush. I'll have to experiment and see what happens...Dennis

If you are trying to make a scrollsaw bowl I strongly suggest Carole Rothman's book: "Wooden Bowls from the Scroll Saw"

Great book!
