Thanks for all the help guys. I have an Excalibur saw and am trying different blades. So far the pause, pivot and cut method seems to be working. Well less blade breakage.. lol... I know its a learning experience. Just scares the heck out of me when that blade snaps.... I am going to try different Olsen blades and maybe the spiral blades. I purchased and assortment to try. Thanks for posting the blade chart....

The size of the blade is a huge factor. If you are trying to pivot 90 degrees with a #7 blade, chances are you will snap it. A #2 blade should pivot no problem. The thickness of the wood is a big factor as well. The thinner the wood, the easier on the blade it will be.

I have used many makes of blade over the years, but since discovering Flying Dutchman blades about 10 years ago, I use no others. The only time I ever have a blade snap on me is through metal fatigue after a lot of use.
