Thanks Corey

When I got this house it didn't have the garage in the back and that was one of the 1st. things I did,,,I built the shop, then a ran out of room so I did a small add on now I wish I made it just a bit bigger,I took out a windows and some of the wall for the door way and made it 8ft x 20ft and it got filled up real quick with STUFF :) the other garage on the house the BOSS owns :) but I'm starting to put stuff in it like the Bike,Snow Blower,Tracker,Lawn Mower, etc. and my sons junk :) that he will not take to his house :) :) I thinks it's called free storage at dad's :)

Don't work to hard on the kitchen bud

WOW, that is nice Bj, I envy you. Had I been into woodworking when I bought this house I would have shopped smarter. Perfect set up. I now see what you were talking about the back room for storage as well. Pretty cool. Lots of room. Just taking a break while the floor guy is here making his template for tomorrow :)

Very nice Bob, thank you...

In some ways, it reminds of Niki's garage... the way he efficiently puts everything away close to the walls to allow for space in the center.

What kind of TS is that on the rolling cabinet? Looks rugged.

Oh, how did you get your dog to always pose with its head always pointing in the same direction? :) (seemed like it anyway).

I also see that you are cramped a little here & there... I'm more cramped here & here & here...

Table Saw is a old Atlas cast iron...my other one is under the plastic, the dog is my buddy and she will just watch me all the time, she thinks that's her job because we don't have any sheep for her to heard.. so she heards me all the time :) a lillte nip on my heel from time to time..like when I want to get in my truck, it's game for her and me too sometimes :) she is a great dog and my best friend .... :D

Good Gosh Bj..... you got a few tools don't ya? I am still looking around to see if I can steal any of your ideas :D Got jigs hanging on every wall just like you said and mine is starting to look the same way. That HF BS sure looks familiar. How do you like it? Mine has done extremelty well.

All I can say is that I am jealeous of all that space packed with neat stuff  Nice landscaping all around also. I sure hope that's not kudzu taking over that building ;)

Bj, that's no shop - it's an aircraft hangar compared to my wee place! Guess you need the vicious looking hound to protect the tools ;)

Hi Bob

If you can steal it pls. do that's why I have them :)so other can use them also.
"HF BS =great I like them and do work well

kudzu= One is a Ivy and one is something I don't know what it is, it's green all year around like a pine tree vine and very slow growing ,that plant is about 25 years old and just in the pass year it got big and took over some of that wall with the ivy on it..
The leaves are a bit waxy to the touch...

Bob, speaking of the HF BS (Harbor Freight Band Saw). What kind of table and fence assembly are you using? Maybe if you have time ? and can move some of your many tools out of the way. Would you post some pics of the table and fence PLEASE. I would appreciate it.

#11 · (Edited)
Hi Dave

Will do,, the top is some 3/4" MDF and the 6" tall fence is the same,,
It's about 4" bigger than the steel base plate, with slots for the miter and the circle pin jig that I use from time from time..to cut big circles out..

Note***I should have made it just a bit bigger..:) all the way to the upriser and 4" over hang all the way around...you may want to do that...

What took so long ??????????????????????????????

Darn Bob, what took so long to get the pictures I asked for???????????? :(
Thanks Bob for the pictures. I wanted to know how you mounted the table and fence. I like how you did it. :D Nice job. Question: how do you keep the center pins from moving when you cut circles?

#14 · (Edited)
Hi Dave
You'er welcome

Center pins are Allen set screws, the long one is just screwed down with a allen hex key the cone point one is just hand tighten down in place and will stay in place ,the Hvy,duty one as a place for a short Allen set screw on one end that's is screwed down once you have it set in the right place in the add on board. ( the add on board I use is 4 ft long with a tee slot running all the way down the center..)

NOte on the set screw, I use 5/16-18 set screws and then ground them down to 1/4" OD but not all the way they need to screw into the sq.nuts.. :)

I used a battery power drill to grind them down,it's quick and easy to do..just pickup a rod coupling nut (5/16-18) , put in a set screw in one end and put the center pin set screw in the other end and lock it in place then just chuck up the coupling nut and do a bit of grinding to remove the threads...down to 1/4" shank size.

===========

The black banding strap in the tee slot will help,it's very thin and very strong and you can find tons of it in trash cans.. :) (Don't use the plastic type,it will crack the 1st time you use it ) but you will need find the narrow banding or you will need to cut it down to size, it's needed in the slot because you need to band saw a slot in the new base board to get the board in place and slide by/pass the blade..

Hi Gary

I would feel right at home in your shop :)

It reminds me of my grand fathers shop,,, when I was a boy of 8 or 9,,I recall one day I was in the shop with him and ask me to hand him a 1/4 sq.nut and I said sure, where is it,, he said you see the rack of drawers on the wall, on the right side 3rd drawer from the bottom, so I pulled it out and all I saw was some old bolts and nuts, he said here I will get it ,so he put his hand in the drawer and like magic he pulled one out just the right size, his shop was small but he knew where every thing was and it was all with in 2 or 3 ft. from him...

Many summers in his shop cutting out trucks and cars, air planes with my best tool the hand jig saw,, I made tons of firewood :) :) he was a great guy and he never let me see the toys I made go in the wood stove... :) :)

Bj. that would be the most envied shop that I have ever seen and I also know how you keep it so clean, you turn that pedestal fan on full blast and out goes all the saw dust! The more I see and read you're posts, the more humble I feel, there was a time before I got hooked on router forums.com that I felt I was a very competent wood worker, but now, I'm not so sure.

Gary, it's obvious that the shop you showed is purely for storage and you failed to show the one you actually work in.

Nice shop Bj really liked the alarm system looks like a killer dog. :D Noticed all the fire exstigishers that is a added plus. Was eyeballing your grizzly pivot sander how do you like it. Been thinking on one. I think I have more sanders then routers now. :D And where is all the wood stock. I have wood lying around all over the place. I'll one day get a picture of my shop closet. Had some on the forum but have to figure out how to get all on one pic. Door isn't that big so I can get it on 2 pics hahaaha. Great shop though you have me green with envy. :D :D :D
P. S. Harry has a good point unless you cleaned up the place before the photo shoot. Between me and you BJ I use a leaf blower in mine at least once a moth. hahaha.

Hi Glenmore

Grizzly sander,, it's great I use it all the time,it can take on 1/2" dia. disk and up to 3" dia.ones and the price was right..
When I got it I loaded up on sanding drums, from 220grit. to 60 grit...it has a 2 1/2" vac pickup under one side of the table and that's a real plus..
I also made a jig for it so I can use it like a jointer...just like the one you can make/use for the router table :)

fire exstigishers,,, yep I have them all over the shop, inside and out you just never know :) I do alot of welding and with all the saw dust around, well you know what I mean..

And where is all the wood stock ?, some is in the back room but the big stuff I keep in the other garage ,like the 4 x 8 plywood,MDFD,etc. it's takes tons of room to store it...and is hard to pull out when I need some...so I just grab the kart and drag some to the shop...I use a padded furniture dolly to move it around to the shop... :) saves my back :) :)

alarm system looks like a killer,,,, yep she barks and that's all that's need I think, she can hear very well ,better than I can...:) then she will lick you down..

Thanks for looking :)

Where is it

Okay Bj..... I have been squinting for 3 day looking for your 1" belt sander. My eyes are blood shot and I'm seeing double. Where did you put it. I know it has to be in there somewhere because you have at least one of everything made :D

Hi Bob

My son put it in his shop and said he would like to use it for a weekend,,
and I said sure but pls. don't forget where you got it..

That was in April,, LONG weekend I guess :) hahahahahaha KIDS :)

It's like that joke, where this guy called his neighbor and said can I put my tools in your garage and the guy sure but why and he said I like to keep all my tools in one place... :)

But I still have my 2 HP 2" wide x 48" belt sander in the back room that I can use just incase my 1" one gets lost in his shop... :)
