A stupid question: Do I really need to register my BOSCH product?

I am not sure.

From the registration form, bosch said it's "Important..." and must return with ten business days.

Is it a joke?

Although it's not required by law in the USA to register your product in order to receive support under the warranty, it simplifies the process if your product is registered. It also gives the manufacturer a way to contact you if a recall is issued in the future. Sometimes they even throw in a bonus to reward those who do register their product, although I don't think that's as common anymore since the economy went belly-up and started floating at the top of the tank. I once got free rubber impact bumpers for my labeler when I registered it. Note that you only have to provide your name and contact information along with relevant product information (serial number, etc.) when you register your warranty. The marketing questions (age, salary, etc.) are optional.

Li, Bosch goes further than other manufacturers in standing behind their products. As Roger mentioned Bosch will often repair items past the warranty date. I would suggest that you do register your router; you can fill out the card and mail it or register online. This is also helpful if your tool is stolen since there is a record of the purchase at the company. Good reasons to register your tool.

ALWAYS register any product that could potentially cause an injury. How is a manufacturer going to know who to contact if there's important info that you haven't sent to them? AT THE MINIMUMgive them your name and contact information. They're offering you a free service and you should accept it. I promise they won't eat all of your Halloween Candy! OPG3
