Hi all,

I was using my bosch gmf 1600 ce in my router table yesterday, and I think I heared a small pop before it suddenly stopped working completely.

I've cleaned out the switch (which had a lot of saw dust in there), checked the brushes and tested with a multimeter to ensure power is getting to the input of the electronic module which sits on top. I think I can rule out the switch and brushes as even the LED lights are not on when the machine is plugged in.

My gut is telling me it is the module, but I can't be sure if that is all. I was wondering if anyone has had the same kind if symptoms as I am experiencing, or whether there may be any other diagnostics I can run before I start ordering parts and end up at a point where I should have just replaced it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Try to bypass the speed controller module to check whether the router would spin at full speed.
(short the 3 teminals of the triac or use a 15A jumper wire).
Be carefull with 240V.

Order a new speed controller if the router can run at full speed when speed contoller is bypassed.

Old thread, but nevertheless... Had same sort of problem. Died without any sign. Started again, and then died. Shipped the router to bosch service center to check out, warranty was overdue for about 6 month. Got a message on the same day the tool arrived at shop: - needs new brushes for motor 8,79€ - needs new wiring 1,70€ -hal-sensor replacement 8,76€ - condesator for interfernce replacement (or something, interesting translation from finnish to english) 7,73€ - new electronical module 99,18€ + work 65€ In total 250e. Quite expensive usage for tool that has been in use for hobbyist easily less than 100 hours in total. Closer to 50 hours than 100. Would it be some sort of an manyfacturing problem?

Welcome to the forum, @Disposal.

Sadly, warranty is based on time since purchase, not actual use.

It may be better value to put that cost to a new machine?

Hi, it just happened to me the other day.Its starting for one second then it stops, and after I have to unplug to start over again with the same result.Opened the router and found the sides of the brushes chipped and also on top of the rotor under the small bearing is a magnetic ring which broke in 4 pieces. That ring seems to ‘operate’ a 3 wired sensor.(I dont know the exactly scope of that magnetic ring, can only guess that it counts)Did you fixed it, how?
