Corrected DW 618 manual

Larry, Picked up the router kit 2nd-hand...no manual. Downloaded that THING from Dewalt site and could only print it to be read THRU A MICROSCOPE!!! Thanks for saving my eyes and sanity. PaulR

Thank you so much for making the manual available to those of us who do not have one. I have just purchased a used Dewalt DW616 router w/plunge base and had no idea how to set it up. I have never had or used a router before, but needed one to install some Soss #218 hinges. We will see how that works out.

 

Just bought this router new. The manual wasn't like this one, had no pics in it. Thanks!

 

Hi Guys, just a quick note. A while back I questioned why my DW618 suddenly started running at high speed during an operation and would not reduce speed. I finally took it apart and found it was the magnetic ring that had broken, I purchase a new ring for $3.19 and pulled the bearing, replaced the ring and bearing and it works great. Dewalt did not offer any suggestions when I first called, only to say it would cost $98.00 to fix. After I fixed it, I called them back, and told them what I had done, and was told that would fix it, and the reason they would have charge so mush was that their hourly rate is $75.00. Just thought this may help others as during the session previously, it was apparent others had a similar problem. Hope this helps someone.

Magnetic ring

I found the magnetic ring is broken How do I pull the bearing to replace it?

I hope he doesn't mind but I found the images a little hard to read so I cut and pasted pictures from the actual manual into Larryc's much better version and I believe the images are now easier to read. Again, thanks Larry and hope you don't mind my changes. here is the revised revised manual. Roger

 

Don't suppose you could revise it to show actual dust collection ports being available for the fixed base model? Shame on DeWalt for such a nice router and no dust collection.

The manual for the DeWalt DW616/618 combination router is an abomination. I have reconstituted it and printed it to a pdf format if anyone is interested.

The manual was an abomination. As the rest of you did, I spent a fair amount of money on this tool. I brought it home and when I could not figure out how the depth adjustment worked, I picked the whole thing up and threw it in the garbage so long with Dewalt I will never buy another piece of their equipment. I am a talented woodworker. When I called the company and wanted to find a manual online so that I might be able to increase the size of the print. They could not tell me how to find it. I do not regret throwing this tool in the trash right after I bought it new. I will never buy a piece of DeWalt equipment again.
