Dual Incra LS Set Up

I became a little tired of having to move the LS TS fence positioner from its position on the rails where it sets when being used with the TS, to a position near the router table which sets at the left end of the rails. Probably the only members that know what I'm talking about are those that have an Incra LS TS system.

Anyway today I ordered a second LS, system, the 17" version, that will set near the router table and will allow the TS to still be used when the router is in use. The available ares between the left side of the TS blade and the base of the second LS system is enough to easily accommodate the majority of the cuts that I make on the TS. If more space is required the second LS system can simply be lifted off ot the rails and out of the way.

If the arrangement doesn't work out the way I have in mind, I can just go ahead and get the larger router table and stand from Incra and have a stand alone router set up which would certainly be the best way to go, but cost of that would be more than twice what I'm attempting to do first and I suspect that it will work just fine.

Just an idea.

I understand. I was fortunate and had the extra cash, at the time, to buy two seperate systems. I do plan to add a wing for a ts mounted router though so I can have two router tables.

I might just build another table and put a self built fence on it instead, because I am not sure I need Incra versatility on two tables.... I guess I will see one way or the other.

Hi Jerry,
I too have gone the way of a TS-LS systems on my Ridgid TS 3650 table saw, and am equally thrilled with it's performance. I've integrated an Incra router table on the left side of the saw, with a 25" LS system.

I solved the problem of being able to access both the saw and the router table by building a mounting board with a hardwood slide that fits into the left miter slot. I then dog it down to the saw table top with a couple of low profile clamps, and the router table is operational. When I'm not using it, I hang the whole assembly on the wall. I looked at the 52" rails, but determined I did not have the space in the shop for it. Oh Well....

Gerry,
Fortunately I did have the room and purchased the 52" rails even though until now I never really needed them. But now, the longer rails has made it practical to add the second LS system. I did move the rail further to the left and to the point where the base for the carriage on the table saw is flush with rear of the base when the fence is right at the blade. This arrangement only allows 32" of space between the blade and the fence when the fence of the table saw is as far to the right as can go in the base. But I don't need more space than that. This arrangement allows plenty of room for the added LS system for the router table.

The bad news is that has been so cold that I haven't gotten any shop time to try the addition of the second LS system.

I know this is a old post but i am trying to decide if I should get the TS LS system. I am sold on the system but i am trying to figure out how to work with the "grey" space. one thought that i had was to mount a second fence on the other side of the LS positioner and square that to the Router that way i would be eliminating about 12" of extra cabinet. hopefully all that would need to be done is flip a measuring strip to read the other direction.

the only thing is without having one in front of me im not sure if this will work out. I figure the extruded aluminum piece must be the same on both ends so hopefully if i get an extra fence mounting bracket and the 90 brackets that connect to the rails that should work. I did see what looked like a round headed screw at the end of the threaded knob that could be an issue though... any thoughts?

I know this will likely add about $50 to the price with extra parts but my shop if only 12'x10' so every bit of space helps

Josh--it's even easier than that. The TS-LS system comes with an extra set of stop bolts (parts 18-19 in the link) so that the carriage assembly and fence can simply be picked up and flipped the other direction. Literally takes under a minute to do. That way you can set up a router table in the dead space (typically left side), use the fence one direction for table say, flip for router. The extruded rails would likely hold the router table weight with no deflection, but there should be legs to balance the added weight (saw would get tippy). Get the system, work with it a bit, then see what add-ons or modifications will make YOUR life better. It's pretty flexible if you let your imagination wonder.
