I'm brand new to the forum and routing. I'm looking for a used router for a small project and will see how it goes. I found a "lightly used" Craftsman Model 320.17542 mounted in a Craftsman table that looks like it could be a good deal. I see several positive reviews here on the forum. The problem: The seller is providing ONLY the table and router. When asked about wrenches and collet: No wrenches and doesn't know what a collet is. I have no idea what to look for when buying or how difficult it would be to get this functional. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

If the seller cannot confirm that the correct 1/2" collet is attached, I would not buy, and I would check before buying, if the seller is not local.
Collets for these older router are very hard to locate.

As Semipro said, check online to see if there are any others of that model for sale and how much.

Wrenches are easy to replace.

According to the manual, this model came with 1/4" and 1/2" collets.

Wary that a router user does not know what a collet is?

Thanks all. It's great that you're knowledgeable and willing to help out. The combo table & router was local and sold for $50 so I'm too late there. I did some further research here on the forum and found that I perhaps could have used crescent(s?) to get a detailed look @ the collet? I'm unclear if maybe all of the components for both 1/2" and 1/4" sizes could have been present. My search continues . . . :)
