Have you ever taken on a project that is WAY over your head.....because you wanted the challenge?

This is my challenge.......

Everything dark will be cut out. Then painted black. The wood is White Pine.

Let the party begin........

If you're going to freehand that and pull it off - you will have my utmost respect and admiration. That looks like CNC territory.

Good Luck

Could get the old woodburning set out .... or solder iron.

I'm using the Profile bit from Dave's Signs and a Whiteside 1/8" dia. straight bit for cleaning up the bottom where I can. Probably going to order their 3/32" dia straight bit to get into tighter areas.

I agree larger would have been easier but I don't have the capability to do a larger photo transfer at this time. AND I AIN'T NO ARTEEST!!! I have a hard time drawing stick figures!! LOL. I'm a "copy and carv" carver.....

I built an illuminated sign for a bike club long ago. I asked the boss if he wasn't worried about getting paid. He said "They got lotsa money."

The police took it down during a raid. I imagine one of them has it in his rec room.

Doubt I will get much done the next few days. The tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico is headed our way. Time to batten down the hatches.

Don't expect high winds....only 50 to 60 mph. But we are already flooded from the last 3 weeks and we are expecting 10-15 inches in 24 hours. The animals are pairing up.....

I'm not an Ark builder.....but it's a trade I may have to learn in a hurry!!! Anyone have some Teak wood for sale? LOL

The storm appears to be headed for landfall about 35 miles south of us. That puts us on the "wet side".....just what we needed.....more rain! The forecast is for 5-10 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. We have 5 major rivers/creeks/bayous in our county that all dump directly into the Gulf. The Brazos River has just recently fallen below flood level in our county after 3 weeks of flooding. Parts of our county are still under water and roads remain closed. This is NOT what we needed.

We've been through much bigger storms though. It's not the wind I worry about. It's the storm tidal surge that scares me. I can prepare for the wind but there is not a dang thing I can do to stop the water.

I remember Hurricane Carla back in September 1961 (I was a young pup - about 9). This entire area was basically misplaced for 10 days or so. We live 16 miles (as a crow flies) from the Gulf of Mexico. But, Hurricane Carla pushed the Gulf inshore nearly 10 miles. NO ONE from this area who lived through Carla will EVER forget this!

But back to the topic of this forum; wood signs.....thanks for the compliments guys! I'm looking forward to it being completed. I'm just gonna have to wait a few more days before I can get back to work on it.

Revised storm info.......good news! Only expecting 4 to 6 inches of rain. But tidal surge is expected to be 4 feet. So still flooding will occur again.....but not as bad.

Wow! I poured out a whopping 3/4" rain from my gauge! We missed it so I'm not complaining.

But it's raining today so I still can't pull everything back out of the shed yet.

Last storm update Y'all! Thanks for the well wishes.

I did a Google search. Their USA headquarters is located in Baytown, TX. I visit there fairly often as I have family living in Baytown. I will be contacting them for more information in the near future.

Right now we just need to dry out so we can get back to making sawdust......remember my shop is in the great outdoors under my carport or my portable awning. :)

I sent him the HQ contact person's email and phone # in a pm. There aren't many places that carry it in stock. I'm in MI and had to get it from Pittsburgh, and order enuff to make the shipping costs worthwhile.

Frank's getting the bug now.

Just remember the greatest things you have to fear - - - computers and vectors. After that, it's a piece of cake ........... yeah right.

I went and got my 2 allergy shots today.....maybe that will keep the "bug" in check for a while.......I don't have the "cha-ching" to buy the CNC "bling"!! Nor a place to put it......yet. :laugh2:

But I might be able to buy one of those fandangled new routers with the 3 axis when they hit the market. Key word there is "might!" LOL
