How do I router out the inside of a kitchen cabinet door for a glass insert?

Guess that would depend on what tools you have at your disposal and are these cabinet doors being built, and still in pieces (rails and styles) or in one piece frame.

I did each rail and style of my cabinet doors on my router table. Used a 1/4" bit, set my fence where the bit would be in the center of my 3/4" lumber and cut. Stopped my rails a 1/2" or so from the ends, so the groove didn't show on the outside of doors. Styles, through and through.

Hey, Ginger; welcome!
What Lee said. You really have two choices.
1) trap the glass in channels cut into all four pieces, before they're assembled. Not recommended as it'll be a major p.i.t.a.
or
2) cut a rebate on the inner back edge, deep enough to accommodate the glass and a small moulding to hold the glass in place. Obviously do all your finishing before doing the glass install.
I've used the second one to reno a few doors that had already been built without glass inserts. Can't say I enjoyed the process...
