I've seen that kind of response - knew it was a scam but I can't for the life of me figure out how they make any money. ID theft? I know for things like jewelry and coins, home invasion is a possibility but for a 500 lb tool? Or, in my case, two wicker couches?

 

What just kills me is these foreign scammers learn a little bit of english and then try to pull this stuff. They actually think we talk like that and after all these years they have still not learned any different.. You don't even have to watch out for the way the scam is set up, the grammar alone is the tell.

 

Ebay has its share of sellers asking more than retail too.

 

By the way, I've been watching CL for an 8" long bed jointer for almost a year now and haven't seen any even close to reasonable deals. either clowns like the guy above or people that are very proud of their iron. I've seen used Jets that are more than a brand new griz with similar specs. Getting ready to break down and buy a new griz 8". If used, I'll get a spiral head for it since my planer head transplant operation was so successful.

 

I actually have that same jointer (bought it new from Grizzly). The jointer has been damaged, badly. The logo plate and the block tray may seem cosmetic, but the infeed height adjustment is missing as well. The jointer looks like it is only a year or so old, which leads me to believe that that thing got ran into by another piece of equipment. (Too new for wear and tear issues)
