I would imagine that the Draper will work well. That would have been my second choice. I bought the SIP and it works well. It also has the higher wattage motor so is a bit more powerful, that's why I chose it. Dust collection is very good and the large bag provided is adequate. It does what it says on the tin.

Shop around VERY carefully. There is a huge price difference for the same product. The vendors who buy the most have the cheapest prices, but if they're out of stock, you might have to wait a week or two to get the price.

Thanks for that link Alan, cheapest I'd seen was 134 GBP w/out postage.

I had a feeling that the SIP might be the one as I've heard a lot of good stuff about various SIP tools. Looks like a winner.

Something strange about this thread! I saw an email informing me of your reply, but I can't see it in the main forum thread.

Anyway, from the email - sorry to hear about the mishap, I guess that can happen with anything. I'm sure they'll swap it out for you, it's just the inconvenience.

I had issues with a brand new GMC mitre saw which had a badly adjusted laser. In the end I managed to adjust the two lasers together after an hour or so - pig of a job! It was the lesser of the evils. The supplier would have exchanged it, but the time wasted and the re-packing were not worth the hassle.

 

I'll try using the Quick Reply box this time. I already replied to this thread to thank you 3 times and none have appeared.

Still waiting for the co. I did get it from to reply for a 4th time. They had asked if I wanted the part and to repair it myself.... Hey, not an engineer here

A shame when this sort of thing happens. It can happen to anyone and is usually down to the carrier being at fault. They have improved, but it would seem not quite enough yet. :angry:

It's a shame that Toolstation didn't have it. In the odd occasion where I've had to return something, there's never been the slightest fuss and a replacement was always forthcoming.

 

I think the packaging had something to do with it, or lack thereof. Only about 5mm styrene under the feet that end. Any drop that happened couldn't have been that bad as the box is perfect, no signs of a drop at all.

Looks like the swap-out is on. Hopefully Monday, but at least they it's gonna happen soon.
