Triton Plunge Routing Question

I have a Triton 3.25 Hp router which I use mainly as a table router. I set it up for plunge routing to cut some mortice slots and I discovered that it would only cut down to 7/8 of an inch, (on the second pass) even though I could screw the stop nut down to a full inch. It turns out that the depth stop tube is hollow only up to 7/8 of an inch and that the end of the screw for the stop nut hits the end of the tube and it won't allow any deeper cut even though the depth scale shows 1 inch and the stop nuts screw down that far. Yes, I'm trying to route a full inch deep - in multiple passes.

Has anyone else experienced this? The simplest solution to me appears to be to cut about a quarter inch off of one of the stop nut screws. Does anyone have any other solution?

Another possibility is, is there an alternative plunge control attachment, a third party part that could be added on?

Sorry N/a, I should have checked before posting. When I measured the recess depth on my stop plunger it too was ~3/4". It looks like you are at the design limits of the tool. If you really do need to have controlled stops spanning more than 3/4" I see a few options:
1) Reset your depth stop after one or two passes so that your final plunge is less than 3/4" from the new reference.
2) As you suggested, shorten one of the turret bolts and always use that position for plunges over ~1/2".
3) Use a spacer when setting the stop depth. For example, if you put a piece of 1/4" stock on the turret reference face when setting the stop depth the first cut (at the reference face) would be 1/4". Subsequent passes would be 1/4" + the step set on the adjustable turret.

I have the Triton MF001 and the turret has three positions, one is a fixed stop and the other two have adjustable nuts that run on threaded rods. If the turret is turned so that the hollow stop tube is adjacent to the fixed turret stop, the router will not plunge down enough to engage to collett / shaft lock (which enables one-handed bit changes). This may possibly be the reason why you are not getting the depth of plunge you expected.
